I normally default to over commenting so I though i would try something different in this case, but now I agree with you that the lack of comments impairs readability. | |

You should also provide a reference to the algorithm you are implementing. It does not seem to be HMC. Maybe some modification of HMC? I don't think gibbsUpdate belongs in normal HMC.
