@chux-ReinstateMonica "Are we there yet?" While an odometer or trip-meter does accumulate distance covered, most travellers I'm aware of are more interested, while en-route, to the distance/time remaining until the objective/destination is reached. There are UX's in which counting down is more appropriate than counting up. Perhaps Snakes & Ladders should be written with this in mind... :-)

@chux-ReinstateMonica Thx for Apollo link! Agreed; esp. for life critical, high pressure situations like landing on the Moon for the first (or sixth) time... "All journeys begin with a single step". Prior to executing that step, the traveller is at position 0 ... It's just an opinion: Numeracy rises (beneficial) as people become fluent with reasoned concepts.. Perhaps it's time for Snakes & Ladders to embrace reason and promote sense... Cheers! :-)

@Cats "I achieved the layout of the board that I wanted" --> Really? Where in code does the '0' come from to print 1 as "01" instead of "1" as listed in the "output is as I wanted".

Sep 5 at 1:30 | comment | added | Fe2O3 | @toolic That something has been used in one way in the past does not mean it is superior to a suggested alternative. See "The Tau Manifesto"... The advantage of SI units is that they are more sensible than their equivalent Imperial counterparts. The game, Snakes & Ladders, could be played equally well on a 2D spiral as a representation of "ascending" a 3D cone. Gotta think outside the box! | |

Recommend using 99-0 instead of 100-1 ... It simply makes more sense (to me).
