@YourCommonSense That's true, but you're ignoring the {{ and }} , these would have to be added in the array, I chose this method.

Wow, I was just going to say the same thing. If you are going to construct an associative array, just call strtr() . (It just took me ~15 minutes to read this review) I found trim() to be unnecessary after sanitizing the email. empty() is not necessary when a variable is guaranteed to be declared -- just use a falsey check.
