Name collision will be caught at compile time as function call ambiguity error, which is effortless to fix in most cases. The real problem comes from the fact that users will do unqualified call, which invokes Argument Dependent Lookup. A very dangerous thing in hands of novices. Compiler will think that user meant to call function from std or whatever namespace, but in fact programmer wanted to call a function from global namespace. That happens...
