AFAIK, sizeof doesn't exist in VBA, but in any case, neither the size of the destination variable, or the size of the source variable are useful, as CopyMemory permits you to copy fewer bytes than the source or the destination variables actually hold (which is, for example, why CopyMemory can copy partial arrays). I do see your point about magic numbers, but in this case a constant like Const SIZE_OF_LONG as Long = 4 , might be better.

If that's true @ThunderFrame, then the sizeof() function would be a good option too.
